Cboe Global Markets is Hiring Fresher Linux Engineer Intern

Cboe Global Markets is hiring a Linux Engineer Intern to join its Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team and gain hands-on experience supporting high-performance, ultra-low-latency financial exchanges.

This Linux Engineering Internship provides an opportunity for students interested in DevOps, SRE, Linux engineering, cloud/infrastructure operations, automation, monitoring, and financial technology to work with experienced engineering teams in a fast-paced technical environment.

About the Role

The Site Reliability Engineering team focuses on performance tuning, capacity planning, system availability, resiliency, and operational support for Cboe's financial exchanges. The team works closely with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Network Engineering to troubleshoot complex technical issues, support platform upgrades and migrations, and introduce new technologies.

As a Linux Engineer Intern, you will gain practical exposure to Linux systems, performance optimization, incident management, automation, monitoring, and production operations within a financial exchange environment.

Responsibilities

- Provide technical support to maintain the resiliency and high availability of financial exchange systems.

- Analyze performance metrics and help optimize exchange latency and system performance.

- Collaborate with Infrastructure and Development teams on technology upgrades and migrations.

- Support the Incident Management process by investigating and helping resolve technical issues.

- Assist with capacity planning and operational decisions.

- Develop, test, and maintain automation and monitoring tools.

- Work with engineering teams to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and software issues.

- Learn how high-performance technology platforms support financial markets and exchange operations.

Required Qualifications

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher and not scheduled to graduate before December of the year in which the internship takes place.

- Strong interest in technical operations and financial exchange technology.

- Advanced knowledge of the Linux command line.

- High proficiency in Python and SQL.

- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive technical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Ability to read and evaluate C++ or similarly complex object-oriented programming languages.

- Knowledge of stock and options trading.

- Interest in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, automation, monitoring, and performance engineering.

Internship Experience

Cboe's internship program emphasizes professional development, education, and networking. Interns work with staff across multiple departments while gaining exposure to exchange technology and operations.

The internship runs from June through August and concludes with a final presentation and retreat.

Compensation and Benefits

- Competitive internship compensation.

- $22.00–$42.00 per hour national U.S. base pay range.
