Amtech Software is expanding its Platform Engineering organization in India as its products transition to a fully AWS-hosted, multi-tenant SaaS platform. The Platform Engineering and SRE teams focus on keeping applications reliable, observable, secure, and scalable across a multi-account AWS environment.

This is an excellent early-career opportunity for candidates interested in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, AWS, Infrastructure Automation, and Production Operations.

As an Associate Platform Engineer, you will work alongside experienced SRE engineers, gain hands-on exposure to production systems, execute operational runbooks, automate repetitive tasks, monitor cloud services, and participate in incident response.

Job Overview

Amtech Software is hiring an Associate Platform Engineer (SRE I) for its Platform Engineering team in Bangalore. This role is designed for professionals with 0–2 years of experience, including candidates with internships, academic projects, or strong personal projects.

You will learn reliability engineering through real-world production operations while developing skills in AWS, Linux, Python, Bash, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, monitoring, incident management, and cloud security.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Reliability

- Monitor and maintain production services using modern observability and monitoring platforms.

- Work with OpenTelemetry-based observability solutions including OpenObserve and Amazon CloudWatch.

- Monitor service-level indicators (SLIs) and service-level objectives (SLOs).

- Maintain reliability dashboards, reports, alerts, and operational metrics.

- Investigate production alerts and infrastructure issues.

- Assist with root cause analysis (RCA) after production incidents.

- Document incident findings, corrective actions, and reliability improvements.

Automation & Operations

- Automate repetitive operational tasks using Python and Bash scripting.

- Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform under the guidance of senior engineers.

- Support containerized workloads running on Amazon ECS Fargate and Amazon EKS.

- Support serverless workloads using AWS Lambda.

- Assist with CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.

- Support cloud environment provisioning and configuration.

- Create, update, and maintain operational runbooks and technical playbooks.

- Identify opportunities to reduce manual operational effort through automation.

Incident Response

- Participate in on-call rotations with experienced SRE engineers providing backup.

- Respond to PagerDuty alerts and production incidents.

- Follow documented recovery procedures and operational runbooks.

- Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues systematically.

- Contribute ideas and automation that improve Mean Time to Detection (MTTD) and Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR).

- Participate in post-incident reviews and reliability improvement activities.

Security & Compliance

- Apply AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) and least-privilege security principles.

- Support secrets management and secure infrastructure practices.

- Follow production security policies and operational standards.

- Contribute to SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance activities.

- Help maintain technical documentation and audit evidence for production systems.

- Follow secure development and cloud infrastructure best practices.

AI-Assisted Engineering

- Use AI-assisted engineering tools for scripting, documentation, troubleshooting, and development tasks.

- Review and verify AI-generated code before using it in production or other environments.

- Test AI-generated solutions and validate outputs against reliable technical sources.

- Understand and review every line of AI-generated code before accepting it.

- Follow organizational AI acceptable-use and data-classification policies.

- Never expose restricted or sensitive organizational information to unauthorized AI tools.

Collaboration & Learning

- Work closely with senior SREs through paired engineering activities.

- Participate in design reviews and post-incident reviews.

- Learn production reliability and cloud operations best practices.

- Document technical lessons learned and contribute to internal knowledge bases.

- Collaborate with Platform Engineering, Development, Security, and IT teams.

Required Qualifications

- 0–2 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, Systems Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or a related field.

- Internships, academic projects, and substantial personal projects are considered relevant experience.

- Ability to write automation scripts using Python or Bash.

- Foundational knowledge of AWS cloud services.

- Understanding of AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, and VPC.

- Basic Linux administration knowledge.

- Understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, and connectivity troubleshooting.

- Familiarity with Git and Git-based development workflows.

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

- Methodical approach to solving technical problems.

- Interest in production systems, cloud infrastructure, automation, and reliability engineering.

- Safe and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated technical skills.

- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.

- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.

- Exposure to Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.

- Knowledge of Docker and containerization.

- Familiarity with Kubernetes.

- Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.

- Knowledge of SLI, SLO, SLA, MTTD, and MTTR concepts.

- Exposure to incident management and production support.

- Experience with Amazon CloudWatch.

- Familiarity with Prometheus or Grafana.

- Exposure to OpenTelemetry or OpenObserve.

- Basic knowledge of CI/CD and GitHub Actions.

- Understanding of cloud security and IAM best practices.
