About the Team
The Document Persistent Storage Service team delivers secure, resilient, and highly scalable storage platforms for Workday’s SaaS cloud. We design APIs, database systems, and distributed storage solutions to support enterprise-scale applications across private data centers and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Role Overview
We are hiring a DevOps Engineer to help design, build, and operate fault-tolerant, high-availability infrastructure. You will work with technologies like Chef, Ansible, Docker, Linux systems, and distributed databases to deliver services that power Workday’s enterprise cloud applications.

Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable, resilient infrastructure for enterprise applications.
- Deploy and manage databases, key-value stores, and object storage in a SaaS environment.
- Work with Linux-based distributed systems, concurrency, and networking.
- Use configuration management tools (Chef, Ansible, Puppet) and containerization (Docker).
- Develop and operate RESTful services, cloud systems, and microservices.
- Apply testing strategies including unit, system, integration, and canary rollouts.
- Monitor and optimize services with logging, metrics, and observability tools.
- Participate in on-call rotations after training for production support.
About You – Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science or related).
- Strong knowledge of Linux OS internals (memory, networking, concurrency).
- Proficiency in Python, Ruby, or Bash scripting.
- Experience with distributed systems, databases, and infrastructure automation.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of scalability, performance optimization, and security best practices.
- Hands-on experience with microservices in production environments.
- Familiarity with incident management and on-call support.
