About the Role
Kotak Mahindra Bank is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to manage and maintain high-availability Red Hat Linux systems. The role involves transitioning operations from traditional administration to infrastructure as code, leveraging automation and configuration management technologies. This is an excellent opportunity for IT professionals to work in a dynamic banking IT environment with exposure to enterprise-scale infrastructure and cloud technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Red Hat Linux servers and high-availability environments.
- Explore, integrate, and implement new technologies for modern IT operations.
- Transition operations from manual administration to automated infrastructure workflows.
- Perform daily maintenance and administration of multiple Unix/Linux servers.
- Prepare for product releases, upgrades, and new initiatives.
- Collaborate with product development teams to implement and support client offerings.
- Install, configure, and maintain Java Application Servers, Apache Web Servers, and Database Servers.
- Perform backup and recovery operations using Commvault.
- Configure and maintain monitoring servers for performance and uptime.
- Commission new servers with required OS (Linux & Windows) and perform VMware & storage integration.
- Maintain knowledge of stock exchange infrastructures (NSE, NSE Colo, BSE Colo).
- Write and maintain shell scripts for automation and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot and handle server hardware RMA replacements.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong Linux system administration skills (Red Hat preferred).
- Hands-on experience with VMware, storage solutions, and server hardware.
- Knowledge of automation/configuration management tools.
- Proficiency in shell scripting.
- Understanding of networking, DNS, and enterprise IT environments.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions (Commvault or equivalent).
- Experience with monitoring tools, Apache, Java application servers, and databases.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
- Certifications preferred: RHCSA, RHCE, or equivalent Linux administration certifications.
